Re: [Sheflug] remote install

Hi All,
Is it possible to install linux on remote windows2000 server with VNC
access. Host is sitting on a good Internet connection.
I heard one can put BSD or Debian remotely on the machine which is
already running linux.
But what about windows?
Any pointers?
Cheers,
Denis.
I don't think there is any way to do this. You can put Debian, BSD or
virtually any other Linux distro onto a remote PC already running
Linux/BSD because it is possible to chroot into a partition/directory,
do the install, change the boot parameters and then reboot.
As long as your settings are correct then once it reboots you can log
back into it and use it as you please. You can also install UML
(User-Mode Linux) and run any other distro inside another one. From
Windows the most you could do is install Cygwin or similar, and run them.
Hope this clears up, and that I have been reasonably accurate :)
