[Sheflug] Multiboot Question
Hi all,
I've done this a thousand times before, but the exact actions I need to take
right now are escaping me.
A system with 4 primary partitions on the HDD.
The first one has WinXP on it all setup and working.
I've added Mandrake 9.2 onto the second partition, and when the prompt
appears for the bootloader, I've specified the beginning of that second
partition.
Usually, its a case of rebooting after the install with a partition manager
program and changing partition 2 to the active one. Then, booting it up and
copying the first 512 bytes into a boot sector file, copying that to the
first partition, and adding it to the NT loader menu.
The same actions for any subsequent OSes too.
Well, I've set the Mandrake partition to active and rebooted, but its giving
me that dreaded 'Missing Operating System' prompt. That tells me its a
problem with the bootloader, as in it can't be seen.
Any ideas how to get this booted into Mandrake ?
It *should* be booting straight into it right now as far as I can tell....
(I know the other option is to put the bootloader in the MBR, copy it, and
then fix the MBR back to what it was, but I'm trying to avoid this if
possible).
Steve.
