[Sheflug] Trouble getting online

 Hi all,

I have installed Redhat 9 and it all seems to have gone fine, but I can't
get online. I have a Motorola SM56 Speakerphone modem. Redhat say it is
certified and ease of installation is 4, which is the easiest to install.
>From what I can gather should do the business when I install the software.

I have been on various forum lists where people have told me it is a soft
modem? A winmodem? And I should go and purchase another one, (but not so
politely).

Is it possible to get online with this modem?
If not why do Redhat say it is certified? Is that certified to drive you
mad?
How do I know if I replace the modem, that the one I will purchase will be a
proper modem?
The person who built my machine only works in a windows environment, and did
tell me it was a proper modem.

Is it worth me bringing my machine over on Tuesday 23rd as I intend to come
over?

Regards

Janet
