For SATA? I may just got for standard ATA then. The RPM rate is the
same(7200) but they data transfer rate on SATA is 150 rather than 133.
Do you reckon it would make that much difference? SATA is supposed to
be like shit off a stick but it doesn't seem that much faster to me.
If only I had the money to buy a SCSI 3 card and drive...
I know when I was looking at building a PC for a friend just before Xmas
I reviewed the performance advantages of 7,200 rpm PATA and SATA. They
are basically the same drives with a different controller, and nothing
was gained by going for the SATA unless you wanted to pay for a 10,000
rpm drive (which I intend to shortly for my new system). I think if you
are going for a 7,200 rpm drive then there is very little performance
increase.
