I've not run Seti, but if it's like the distributed.net RC5 clients then
running multiple instances at once is rather counter productive.
I'm assuming that seti, like dnetc, will use up any spare CPU going, so your
CPU is always at 100%, pretty much, and gives it self a low priority so that
anything else vying for CPU is able to get it without any difficulty.
Thus running two Seti clients would basically mean each client has 50% CPU -
viz, they're running at half speed. So you have two clients doing in time T
(each seti taking 2 * T to finish a work unit, hence 2 units in 2T) doing
the same work as one seti (each work unit taking T to complete, so for two
units, that's 2T time).
However, if anyone knows how Seti works with more authority, feel free to
correct :)
