Broadband works fine, but.... You need to check what kind of broadband
modem they will give you, if any. Some of these are not compatible with
Linux, or at any rate will give you some trouble.

If you go an buy a broadband router, then it's easy. You plug the router
into the dsl line (ie the phone socket) and then you plug your box into
the network socket of the router (they usually have 4 sockets so you can
connect several computers). This is highly recommended as you generally
get a firewall built into these devices, which is well worth it with a
broadband connection.

I can highly recommend the Netgear DG834, which I think costs about 70
quid the last time I looked. It's very easy to set up using a web based
interface to the device. You do need a normal network card in your
computer, of course, but the Netgear comes boxed suitable cables.
