[Sheflug] Help for U.S.Robotics 56k message modem
Hi Everyone,
I've been using my external modem for a few weeks now and I have just
realised, because someone has been trying to get hold of me that the modem
is acting as a fax. My machine is not switched on when this is happening
although there is power to the modem. I am still in Windows (yes, I know.
I'm now worried about security, if Bakewell wasn't so far I'd come to the
next meeting so someone could explain it to me)
I've read through the manual on disk and it appears that the auto answer is
not disabled. I would be grateful for any advice. I have pasted what I
think is the relevant bit from the manual. Where would I type this ATSr=n
command?? And when I know where to type it, would I type ATSS0=0?
I only every shut down the box, I have always left the monitor, speakers and
printer on. Is this good practice? When I got the modem I never thought to
switch it off with the machine.
Thank you very much in advance.
regards
Janet
