AFAIK the slugbug list forked because a number of Sheflug users were 
unilaterally kicked from this Sheflug list after a really trivial 
exchange over the use of irc.

Unfortunatley the archives for the sheflug are damaged so I can't point 
to exact emails.

The SlugBug archives are available for that time.. 
and the initial posts may give some idea for the feel of that group

Yes .. I find this list useful, the IEE and others do a great job in 
FLOSS advocacy and support.

Which is precisely why the points raised in the mail that started 
this thread need to be addressed, and haven't yet.

Its a pity that this seems to be about individuals, when its really 
about process. 

IMHO Having an open and accountable body that accurately represents 
the community, is important for the FLOSS, Sheffield, and all that 
entails ( like my job, career development, my next job, etc etc .. )
