Re: [Sheflug] Sheffield University

I was mainly looking to meet some people. I won't know anyone else coming to the university so thought it would be nice to meet some new people with a fellow interest.

Hello.
I'm going to be studying at Sheffield University soon and I was just wondering if there are any fellow SHEFLUG members there?
Thank you.

Hi Patrick,

Yes, there are a few of us here who are on the list, welcome to Sheffield.
Some depts run fairly big linux operations, though for most it's a minority interest at best. There are even a few dual boot machines in some of the open access areas. There's not yet much central support for Linux, though the computer centre is hoping to move in that direction eventually (if resources...)

If you're interested in access to kit it will depend on which dept you're in; if you just want to plug your own box into the campus network that's easy.
Cheers, Jan
