Hi Patrick,
Yes, there are a few of us here who are on the list,
welcome to Sheffield.
Some depts run fairly big linux operations, though for
most it's a minority interest at best. There are even a few
dual boot machines in some of the open access areas.
There's not yet much central support for Linux, though
the computer centre is hoping to move in that direction
eventually (if resources...)
If you're interested in access to kit it will depend on which dept
you're in; if you just want to plug your own box into the campus
network that's easy.
