I would check your hardware before bothering; Solaris hardware support
isn't quite as good as Linux's if you're using x86 hardware. Plus, it
has (IIRC) some crazy memory requirements.

Personally, I have no reason why I might want to even look at Solaris.
They are moving to XOrg and GNOME (which I already run), install lots of
GNU tools and have "Linux emulation" for binaries (although - like their
other interesting technologies - this is just vapourware at the moment,
you can't get it right now as far as I know). 

Their new filesystem looks interesting. If the licence for Solaris 10 is
truly OSI-compliant (as they rumour it will be), this will make it's way
into Linux before too long. DTrace I couldn't really give a stuff about.
Ditto Solaris containers; it looks nice but is irrelevant for me.

So, I won't be downloading :o)
