I've seen a lot of threads on getting the via82xx sound module working with the SuSE 2.6.4 kernel in 9.1 Pro but no-one has actually posted that they had solved the issue. Has anyone on this list been there & done that? USB hdd support seems pretty pants too - again, with Mandrake it was totally plug'n'play, SuSE makes it more like plug'n'grrrr.

My previous system, Mandrake 10.0 (upgraded to 10.1 & found it badly flawed) detected & used the via sound chip just fine using the same snd_via82xx module.

I'm seriously thinking about gong back to Mandrake 10.0 & forgetting the hassle. I used to be a staunch SuSE user but times change.
