Growl, growl....

Somehow loused up cups comepletely trying to sort out the problem - the
server woudn't load. It probably heard me threatening to do 'orrible
things to it under my breath :-)

Deleted everything and reinstalled all the cups RPMs. This time, I told
it to use a generic PCL5 PPD. It appears to be a damned sight faster
than the PCL6 one and the 'parallel' CPU hog seems to have gone away.

Interestingly though, to back up Lesley's comments, the quality of the
print using the PCL5 PPD is very much lower than that using the PCL6
one, even on test page output.

Ah well. At least I've got a printer that works, and graphical quality
isn't one of my needs...
