[Sheflug] ubuntu wifi

Hi there ShefLug'ers
I've read through any number of howtos & posted elsewhere (Ubuntu forums, manufacturer site, etc)with no real results, so I hope one of you guys has hit this wall before me & got over it :

I recently bought some wifi kit from eBuyer, (Safecom SWLC54108, 11g) to work with both XP & linux-based laptops. I'm having real problems getting the Safecom SWLC54108 working. This is a Cardbus (i.e. pci for laptops) which is based on the Ti ACX111 chipset and should be supported by the native acx_pci module.

Ubuntu detects the card fine & installed the acx_pci module for it, and the card showed up in lspci, iwconfig, ipconfig etc. However, the power light never comes on (i know that this can be software-set so I played about with this - I couldn't turn the led on manually either. Forcing a scan results in no access points showing up.

I've tried ndis wrapper using the supplied 32-bit Windows drivers, again ndiswrapper -l shows the driver has loaded & the card is there but still no joy. My next step is to try Linuxant's driverloader (there is an oem license agreement with Ti as this is a common problem!) but I'd really like to get the native driver working. It seems so nearly there - can anyone offer me a leg up to get over this wall?

TIA,

Paul.
