Did you really mean 0.7.2? I think currently 0.8.2 is the stable
version.

Have had similar experiance with my 3800, thought that I had bricked it
a couple of times but in the end it always comes back.

I have only ever tried the GPE port so I am afraid I can't really help
you there! sorry. But have you tried an ipkg upgrade?
