There's no POP3 or IMAP access to hera.shu.ac.uk (having just tried).
There is however a telnet interface on port 23 which works. It's not
pretty though, and I'd lay odds that most people wouldn't even
acknowledge its existence.
Just having tried (again), there is POP3 and IMAP access via
fcweb.shu.ac.uk on the usual ports. I dunno about SMTP though.
Alternatively, the web interface works with Firefox on fcweb.shu.ac.uk
(accessible through the student portal as well: myweb.shu.ac.uk)..
Marginally "prettier" but still not as good as the native client.
