Peter,

I have a colleague with a Mac who sends me stuff with similar problems. I made 
the following notes which you might find helpful...

He sends his emails with BinHex 4.0 encoding for attachments. These
may or may not have a .hqx extension.

The megatron set of commands must be used to deal with these.

To decode one of his attachments, save the file to disk. If it hasn't
got a .hqx extension then give it one.

Then use...

unhex <filename>

This will do the decode and save the file under the original name
without the .hqx extension.
