Well, it looks like your resolv.conf is wrong.

It wouldn't make a difference. That setting is for the router itself - I
reckon the router knows the DNS servers already.

Did you configure the network on your desktop manually, or is it
configured automatically? You would usually set it to DHCP, but that
should bring in the DNS server entry in resolv.conf, which you're
missing.

If you change your /etc/resolv.conf to:

search localdomain
nameserver 192.168.0.1

.... I would bet that things begin to work. However, if you have set
DHCP and it's not working, it could be that it gets trashed at some
point after. So, you need to look hard at your network configuration I'm
afraid.
