Janet,
AFAIK you don't use chainloader to boot up a linux partition. I suggest
using a text editor and copy the entry for booting up fedora from the
fedora's menu.lst. Erase the the entry you have for booting fedora in the
suse menu.lst and replace that entry from the one you copied from the fedora
menu.lst.
The suse file system does place various files in different places compared to
redhat/fedora. Suse eg has more files in the /opt directory compared to other
distros. They've been doing this for many years now, some complaints then
that suse wasn't following the standard filesystem layout but it all seems to
work.
