thanks for all the thoughts - it's given me more confidence in holding
the LAMP line as well as specific technical issues to back up my
initial sneaking suspicions. At the moment I'm getting on very well
with the school and they've not seen anything to turn them against open
source, and I'm keen to win them over. I plan to use the backup that's
in place at the moment (backing up onto a winxp machine that they've
provided) and demonstrate that a replacement moodle server is nothing
more complicated than plugging it in and turning it on (so long as I can get it set up correctly).

Moodle's taking a hold in North Sheffield - Longley Park 6th form
college is using it and it's being demonstrated elsewhere.
