How do other systems (windows?) get updated? Is there a precident that has
been set where certain servers are allowed to use port 80 to get out for
updates and you could add yours to the list?

I don't know centos but pretty much every other distro has the ability to
create a repository. Could you setup an internal repository on a desktop PC
and access that from the centos box?
