I just saved then deleted the attachment. Didn't read any documentation,
just followed the onscreen prompts.

I don't know, sorry. I don't use PGP/GPG at the moment, and my mutt connects
to a local mail server. I am told that it can connect to a remote IMAP
server so I suspect it isn't reliant on the local machine for mail delivery.
