I am not sure I understand the term 'server sessions' here
 so I may be misinterpreting what you are saying.  The X 
window system uses rpc/portmap and opens a port on 600.  I 
have no idea what your firewalling is like for a community 
network, but X-Windows is generally considered 'poor form' on 
servers. Somehow I feel sure you know that already.
