I think you're getting hung up on the commercial aspect. Nothing of what
I said was about making people to give their work away at no cost; the
money side of things isn't relevant to the argument.

The issue is that digital content is by nature a basically limitless
resource, but proprietary software is artificially limited. 

There isn't really a good analogy to draw with other resources, because
virtually everything on this earth is naturally limited.
