  I have

  ii  libarts1-xine                     3.5.5-2 
    aRts plugin enabling xine support
  ii  libxine1                          1.1.2+dfsg-4 
    the xine video/media player library, binary
  ii  libxinerama1                      1.0.1-4.1 
    X11 Xinerama extension library
  ii  totem-xine                        2.16.5-3 
    A simple media player for the Gnome desktop
  ii  xine-ui                           0.99.4+dfsg+cvs20061111-1 
    the xine video player, user interface
installed

and all the /usr/lib/codecs ( and /usr/lib/*spit*win32*spit* stuff) 
looked fine to me but I reinstalled them anyway.
