Thanks for the pointers. I've had a play with vnc but only in the context
of a home network with a mixture of linux and windows machines. I didn't
look to see if a 'teacher' machine could demand control of 'student'
machines.

On a related matter, I saw a demonstration of a proprietary product
(Talmos) which, among other things, allowed teachers to specify which
programs a student could access. Do you have any idea if there's something
open source that can do this on a windows network? As I understand it,
this is probably beyond VNC's remit.
