Hi Richard,

I'm not sure what music editing software is? My daughter uses music
notation software. It is called Finale Notepad, freeware for windows.
She uses this for writing sheet music and arrangements. I notice the
Notepad 2008 now also allows you to plug instruments, such as keyboard
into the computer.

I understand that the Linux has had adequate music notation software for
sometime, which works very well.

I am using Suse 10.2 and it says I have Lilypond installed, but it is
only available as root. I don't know why.

The software appears to work on both operating systems. Which may suit us.

I'm not much bothered as it is my daughter who uses it most on their
computer. I always have such trouble installing stuff, that I only try
if desperate.

Forgive me if I am talking about something completely different.
