Yes

Asus EeePC. 4Gb 701. Lovely hardware. You have to get the 2Gb RAM
upgrade from Ebay for £30 to make the GUI work at anything like the
normal speed. Although, 512Mb of RAM does work and might be good
enough for you. You can do serious work with these. Lot of sys
admins have bought them. OpenOffice (which I use for writing for
magazines) works just fine.

Asus have made it plain that there shall not be an update for this.
My own way around this (many other people as well was to install
Ubuntu or Kubuntu which just about fits into the 4Gb of memory or
hard drive....

http://wiki.eeeuser.com/getting_ubuntu_8.04_to_work_perfectly

" sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install build-essential
wget 'http://snapshots.madwifi.org/madwifi-hal-0.10.5.6-current.tar.gz'
tar zxvf madwifi-hal-0.10.5.6-current.tar.gz
cd madwifi-hal-0.10.5.6-*
make clean
make
sudo make install
sudo reboot "

This "just works" and after installing Kwifimanager is just as good as
the version provided by Asus when manufactured.

Hmmm... don't know about that one :)
