I do find things like this worrying, since they give the state large
amounts of information about individuals which were not easily
accessible to them previously.  Basically, the more the state knows
about the details of your life the more they can try to control you or
blame you for things which then disqualify you from receiving any sort
of state money.

Well I don't think we've turned over to fascism yet, but there have
been a steady stream of moves in that direction in recent times.
You'll know that fascism has arrived when all blogging and YouTube
videos are banned without specific permission (and censorship) by the
state.  Use of free software would probably also be banned.
