[Sheflug] EeePC

Hi

This might interest someone out there due to the fact that it's
Christmas week next week.

Been having some problems with my EeePC 701 in that I installed
Kubuntu 8.04 into it. Disk space maxed out at 96%. Other than that
it was brilliant. So, what to do ? I decided that EeeBuntu Netbook
Remix version 1 might do the job. Installed it. Really good. Then,
after installing Exim4 the whole thing went up the chute. By chance
NBR version 2 (Ubuntu Ibex - 8.10) was released a few days later. I
thought why not try that ? Went to..

Grabbed the NBR version. Wouldn't boot into graphical mode. Only
black screen and command line. Refused to play at all. So, I tried
the standard version. Really good. What I didn't know was that the
desktop in this version of EeePC software is the Avant desktop that
you can get with Intrepid Ibex...

This gives you a desktop that is so much like Mac OS X that it's hard
to tell the difference. So, well worth the effort for portable or desk
based computing.
