It's possible to build a voltage-divider to adapt line level to mic
level, but the mic jack is mono and I want to record in stereo.

That wouldn't affect recording (from that input only) at all, would it?

OK, I have a slot that I've never used.  I didn't know there were PCMCIA
sound cards.
