Yes, I use that to manage the database installation. It's not a suitable 
tool for database operators to use, though. I want to develop a system that 
enables a non-technical person to keep the data up to date, run queries and 
so on in a safe shell, as it were. He shouldn't have to worry about the risk 
of damaging some structure with a careless keystroke.

I have to consider my eventual successor, who may be an accomplished amateur 
singer but perhaps not familiar with database minutiae - and most likely 
won't have encountered anything like PHP. That's why I want to avoid 
programming if I can, too, preferring (if there is one) a ready-made middle 
layer between the Web page and the underlying tables.

I'm sure this problem must be solved a dozen times a day, so that someone 
must surely have developed a flexible interface. I haven't found one yet 
though.
