Yes.  I chose it for a similar reason.  I wasn't quite sure whether I 
wanted something simple or something complicated.  In the end I 
realised that the Fantastico install script for a long list of PHP 
based applications was a good choice.  It helped me to install things 
like Wordpress and Drupal and many others without having to understand 
what I was doing.  Later on I built my own Apache box to study PHP web 
apps a bit more...

Mail account configuration with cPanel is very easy.  You can pay more 
or pay less at a later date for an account.  Not too expensive unless 
you want to do some web development and run several sites.  It's been 
good for me.  Meanwhile, the lug.org.uk site has had many problems due 
to voluntary staff not quite fulfilling the brief that they set for 
themselves.  At least the Nativespace offering is easy to manage and if 
anything goes wrong there is reliable 24 hour technical support to 
sort things out while you are busy with something else.
