Sorry, I should have qualified it: fail as a mass market educational
device beyond the hobbyists community.

There is no lack of computing devices both in kids home and their
school, any computer capable of running MS Office, which what they
teach my kids since Y1 these days, will be capable of programming.

So I don't quite see that 'cheap £30 computer' will change anything.

I'm not usually sceptical, and I'm a free software advocate (my
business is dual licensing our free software project), it's just the
'mass education' part that's not conducive to ANY kind of
free-thinking, not just in computing sciences.
