I believe Linux has a 4gig limit for a maximum filesize, and ext2 has a limit
of it's own on FS max size. ext3 should be transactional and also remove all
these limits, I have a feeling that the 4gig filesize max is simply a value
you can alter if you are brave in the kernel srcs, but it might have side
effects.

If 'file' notes it is mpeg then that _is_ good. You could just run xanim on
the file, but a better mpeg player is mtv, which is a shareware app
(disabled). This calls mtvp which is free, and can be used with some command
line parameters to play videoCD images so should work on your file. You can
get it at www.mpegtv.com. It works really smoothly when I've tried it.
I've seen Linux mount DVD disks before, but I assumed that was a different
type of disk, one for data, or like a DVD ram disk. I thought the ones that
worked in DVD players for your TV were a different format all together.
