? I always thought it was, but perhaps that's because the branding is so
similar...

Fair enough ;) But they do have quite a lot of the Simpsons' Fries Guy.
You know the one I mean, spots, long blonde hair, Would you like fries
with that sir?. Hmm ;)

I think you've just gone an proved my point! I was not trying to tar all
employees with the same brush, but you only get a knowledgable employee
(such as yourself ;) from the luck of the draw - i.e, you've spent time
researching stuff yourself obviously, hence 'personal findings'. I would
rather have a situation where you could replace 'personal findings' with
'in-depth training', but perhaps that's too much to ask. . . they do seem
to have a high staff turn-over rate tho' ..

It's the same with hi-fi equipment. I'm something of an audiophile as
well, and going into Dixons and seeing they way the equipment gets laid
out, for example, frustrates me. The equipment, some of which is
excellent, never gets a change to show itself well, due to the
installation (switching boxes, bell-wire, mains-flex, dust, dirt, etc.).
The sales assistants are generally not very knowledgable (they have CD
players themselves, they know about formats, etc., they don't know the
actual products they have very well). For example: the Technics 490 CD
Player (a fine player cheap at that) has a digital optical SP-DIF
output. I've not met a Dixons sales assistant yet who knows what that is.
Which is better, digital coax or sp-dif? Blank expression.. true, there is
the odd gem in the rough, the odd sales assistant who (shock) knows their
product, but in my experience they're few and far between. But then,
that's just me...

Cheers,

Alex.

PS. No offence meant ;))
