You probably have indentd running both stand-alone and through inetd.
Check /etc/rc.d/init.d/identd status (or your Linux flavor equivalent).

Comment out the line in /etc/inetd.conf that starts with 'auth' if the
last command says that identd is running.
(Or if you know portsentry runs its own identd)
