I have been using a 3com/US Robotics 56K faxmodem for months with no
problems... between £50 - £70 depending where you shop.
Any external modem should be okay as long as it does the Hayes commands...
I've yet to see one that don't. Most of the more expensive internal modems
(ie ones with an onbard 16550 UART) should work okay as well freeing up a
serial port but you loose the status LEDs.
PS it would be appreciated if you send mail as plain ascii not html for
those not using html enabled email clients, plus it saves bandwidth (11Kb
for 11 words?).
