Yeah, I had a poke around at Freshmeat (ooh er, missus), but there seems to be
up to twenty programs that can do whatever he requires, I was just wondering if
there's one that stands head and shoulders above the rest that I'm unaware of. 
And, sorry, completely forgot about sheflug.co.uk.

Ah ha.  You see this I wouldn't of been able to suggest.

I'll recommend OpenLinux eDesktop 2.4, and steer him towards the things you've
suggested above then?
