DOSEMU (very nice).  Also DR Dos from Caldera Systems which is much
better than DOS.

either.  If he's got a scanner I'd go for Open Linux eDesktop 2.4. 
Scanner config in Open Linux is easier and there is a wider choice of
scanners.  Under SuSE Sane and Xscanimage is/are very good but the
choice of scanners is limited.
(from personal experience)
