A friend reminded me today of a place in Sheffield with a huge number of
computers who's screens are fixed at 800x600 and can't be changed unless you
break the administrator account...

All the computers at Hallam Uni are fixed at 800x600 - I'm not sure of the
reason of this, but thats the way it is. Some computers, I've been told, are
fixed at 640x480 as the monitors that have don't do any more (these are in
the Eric Mensforth building).

Hallam Uni does not have the budget to upgrade every single machine, so
they've taken the lowest common denominator at which a computer is usablem
and used that globally.
