People have already mentioned Redhat and Debian :) More info on Sparc linux 
can be found at www.ultralinux.org :) Also remember that Solaris 8 is free 
now, though it doesn't have support for the sun4c architecture (early Sparc's 
eg: IPC, IPX, SparcStation 1, 2 ... see www.sunhelp.org). Alternatively 
there's also all the BSD projects (Net, Free and Open)...I've got OpenBSD 2.3 
on my IPC, and 2.6 is in the post. :)
