Try icecast. (www.icecast.org)
It isn't Real Audio (you will have to pay for Reals server), but streaming
MPEG. WinAMP plays it, and the latest RealPlayer might do too.
Basically it means anything can play the stream. I have no numbers on how
it compares for quality/speed but it seems OK.
There's also QuickTime audio, but I am not sure if Linux can play QT
audio.
