[Sheflug] Weird world of Netscape 6/jpeg

Well, there are symlinks (dated May 21) libjpeg.so & libjpeg.so.6 linked
to libjpeg.so.6.0.1, and there's libjpeg.a & libjpeg.so.6.0.1 which have the
build date (July 23 1999).

Nope, there's not a thing.

Ah, there's some stuff in /usr/local/bin (cjpeg, djpeg, jpegtran,rdjpgcom,
wrjpgcom - with the "new" date), but how do I get at Id.so.conf?  emacs
Id.so.conf results in a lovely blank page.

You're going to love this:  how do you "do" Idconfig (or Idconfig -v | less)? 
When I type Idconfig I get Command not found.  Is this a SuSE problem?

Sorry if I'm missing something very obvious, but I guess this isn't too
difficult to fix(?)
