[Sheflug] Re:the newbie is back

Hello again,
There has probably been a lack of daft questions lately as I have been
putting in a new 14 gig Hard drive. Peice of cake compared with trying to
put linux/win 2000 on it, The suse 6.4 I had installed on my old drive had
problems, half way through installing packages on cd1 red box with can'nt
install whatever, must have damaged the cd I reckon,Later I may need a copy
of disk one from some kind person. So thing is the only version I have to
hand is a freebie of corel linux which went in like a rat up a drainpipe
does'nt seem to like my mouse though sometimes recognised sometimes not.
OK to my problem all seems well except modem connection setting up "dial up"
I have played with the settings until when I connect I get the modem dialing
out "connect"/speed. "starting pppd" then I get an error message "ppp daemon
died unexpectedly" when I check the log I get the very helpful message
"sorry can't help you there"
If it makes any difference I have 2 modems one internal winmodem on com port
3 & an externel motorola 28.8 on com port 2. This is the one I have setup in
Linux on dev/tty1/ would there being one on port 3 make any problems.
Any help most welcome.
Thanks
Pete
