Yep, look up the bit of gateways in the NET howto too; it's actually very
good.

SuSE wvdial.dod has worked great for me in the past - it runs pppd in
'demand' mode, and seems relatively clever. The only thing you have to be
careful of is the not-so-clever Win boxes running outlook or something,
polling the mail box every five minutes. Some phone bill :(

I believe there is *a* version of Win9X that modem shares (possibly a plus
pack or something), but having it on the Linux box is far easier...
