We had a DNS misconfiguration here a few months ago, and not only did
my entry get deleted, but the !"#$% DNS admin had restarted the serial
numbers. That was our fault.
By directly querying the publically accessible nameservers, I managed
to convince all of them to ask our server for my address, and my mail
started to go through again. A couple of days later, all the VUW
nameservers had somehow managed to reacquire the bogus information
from somewhere, and I couldn't post again.
You tell me if that's "robust" behavior. I am aware that it may be
conformant to the RFCs, but VUW was the only place I had that problem
with. I did have some name servers that refused to give up on the
cached info, but none that returned to the bogus info after once being
shown the light.
