[Sheflug] Still can't configure

Sorry to trouble you all again, but in spite of all the help I have been given,
I am still having no success with installing any applications from source. I
have tried several applications.

When I ./configure, it always stops in the middle with the error message:

Checking for X... configure : error: Can't find X includes. Please check
installation and add the correct paths.

I have several "include" folders, such as /usr/X11R6/include/X11/,
/usr/X11/include/X11, and others. I have tried to locate xlib.h as was
suggested, but it isn't installed neither is it on the SuSE disks. The nearest
I can find is axlib.h, which is in /usr/include/netax25/axlib.h.

I have typed ./configure --x-includes=DIR as instructed (substituting all the
paths I have listed in the previous paragraph for DIR), but still get the error
message. Also I have tried all the varaiations of the paths I can think of!

I can't find anything about this error in the printed SuSE manual, in the
on-disk help files, or in any of the Linux magazines. So I have drawn a
complete blank.

Please could someone tell me what I am doing wrong, and tell me, in *very*
simple (newbie's) language, what I do to get over this error message?
