Re: [Sheflug] Star Office in non root user mode

If you remove SO, and reinstall it into /opt/Office51 (or preferably,
Office52. See PC Plus for this unless they've run out), and when you
install it, use the /net switch (ie, ' setup /net ' ).

Then, log in as yourself, and run /opt/Office51/bin/soffice, and the setup
program will reappear. Select workstation install (2-3mb) and set it up in
~/Office51.

You can then install the shortcuts into as many user accounts as you like,
with only a tiny footprint in each user directory.

This is the way MS Office should have worked, and the way SO should work
by default (IMHO). Still, if MS Office worked this way, MS Windoze would
need to work like Linux (proper user/group config, not just some flaky
password thing and no file protection)

Hope this helps. Also, RTFM! It's all in there (README is good, as is the
docs which appear when just after the EULA. What? You didn't read it ;-)

Life would be so much easier if we
could just look at the source code.
