 Wierd. I've run 2.4.0-test7 and -test8, a whole bunch of -pre's and I'm now 
on
-test9-pre9 (haven't rebooted into -test9 yet).

 Currently I'm running 1Gb swap and 256Mb physical memory, and everything has
been running sweetly.
 kswapd is maybe using 1% if not less. (Can't check - using Windoze machine at
work at the moment).
